Night Beams 22

For the very first time, Public Works presents Night Beams!

Featuring

• TH Inc. creates sound as a means of exploring the unknown. A way of processing the known in a new way. Drawing on their love of early industrial music like Throbbing Gristle and Einstürzende Neubauten, TH Inc are interested in exploring sound and ideas from the subconscious brought to the foreground. Sonic resonances made of flesh and word mesh with metal and synthetics to create new experiences.

• B4Lasers is a Chicago based beatmaker, producer, DJ, and creative force rooted in sample based hip hop, soulful grooves, and the culture of beatmaking. Known for blending dusty textures, rare grooves, live raw instrumentation. B4Lasers has built a growing catalog of releases with editorial recognition and collaborations across the independent music scene.

• OVC - Nathan Koch is a teacher, artist, and producer. His OVC alias has been a repository for all things dub-influenced over the years, from early dub techno and house releases on Cologne's Traum Schallplatten to the more recent slow, heavy, and head-nodding tracks he's been producing in the 2020's. OVC's new EP "Bliss Attractor" combines influences as diverse as cloud rap, dub, and deconstructed club – hinting at rhythmic shapes without quite committing to them.

• Chris Oquist is a Chicago-based composer and multi-instrumentalist whose music maps the space where things change and stand still at the same time. Working with synthesizers, drone machines, field recordings, and acoustic instruments, he triangulates electronic music, classical, and sound art - pushing each toward something warmer and more human than the instruments alone suggest.
